No. 8 Nebraska goes down to wire with QB call

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska fans haven't forgotten that one-point loss to Texas in the Big 12 championship game and they're still celebrating next year's move to the Big Ten.
But the biggest topic of conversation in Big Red country has been about who will start at quarterback when the No. 8 Cornhuskers open the season against Western Kentucky on Saturday night.
Coach Bo Pelini hasn't said whether he'll go with Zac Lee, the senior incumbent, Cody Green, the top backup in 2009, or redshirt freshman Taylor Martinez.

Nebraska goes into its opener against Western Kentucky with fans still wondering who'll be the eighth-ranked Cornhuskers' starting quarterback.
Coach Bo Pelini is deciding among Zac Lee, the senior incumbent; Cody Green, the top backup in 2009; and redshirt freshman Taylor Martinez.
Offensive lineman Ricky Henry said he expects it to be a last-minute decision Saturday night.
The Huskers have their highest preseason ranking since 2001 and will be in position to make a run at the national championship if their offense improves.

For the first two weeks of fall camp, “Nebraska” was a dirty word as far as Western Head Coach Willie Taggart was concerned.
But on Wednesday, Taggart officially introduced the Toppers to Cornhusker football.
Western began its first prep work for its game at No. 8-ranked Nebraska on Sept. 4, outlining the Huskers’ basic schemes.
“I wanted to get out and introduce Nebraska to the guys,” Taggart said. “Today was more of an introduction to what Nebraska does, and we’ll see where our guys go from there.”
Taggart said Western just worked through the absolute basics and plans to gradually add more pieces to the puzzle. More >
