Nebraska Senator May Have to Step Down After Election
Sep 3rd
Nebraska Sen. Robert Giese will have to step down if he wants to become Dakota County treasurer.
Giese, of South Sioux City, is running unopposed for the county position in the November election, so it's likely he'll be elected. But Wayne radio station KTCH-AM reports Giese's legislative term continues through January 2013, and state law prohibits him from holding both elected offices.
Should Giese step down as state senator, the governor would thenappoint a replacement.
A message left Friday at Giese's capitol office wasn'timmediately returned.
